Ubuntu Smartphones to be sold

Ubuntu the most popular and free operating system used by almost 20 million PC users is now soon to be seen in smartphones. The first Ubuntu Touch 1.0 was released in January 2013 and the Touch Developer View was released in February 2013. The full version is now going to be released by 17th Febuary 2014.
The price is going to be $200 – $400 according to the Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth.
Ubuntu Smartphones to be sold for $200 $400

Mark said “We’re going with the higher end because we want people who are looking for a very sharp, beautiful experience and because our ambition is to be selling the future PC, the future personal computing engine”.
Interesting thing is that Ubuntu phones can be converted into full blown PCs by connecting with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. This is going to be the plus point for Ubuntu based smartphones if they came to the market. It is definitely going to give tough competition to iOS and even Android.
